Remainder Interest in Land or Home

Donating a Remainder Interest in Land (thereby “reserving a life estate”) allows you to use and enjoy your property during your lifetime. It conveys immediate income tax benefits to you, while ensuring that the land is transferred automatically to MPF upon your death. Once MPF receives this asset upon your death, depending upon the conservation values associated with the property, MPF may place a conservation easement on it and then sell it, thereby providing MPF with long-term support.

Please consult with MPF in advance of your decision so that we can make sure your intentions are fully met. We would be happy to talk with you about how to leave a prairie conservation legacy for future generations. Please contact MPF Executive Director Carol Davit at the Missouri Prairie Foundation at (573) 356-7828 or info@moprairie.org.
